| Plot Summary | Using flashbacks from a statement recorded late in life and archival footage for atmosphere, this film traces Harvey Milk's career from his 40th birthday to his death. He leaves the closet and New York, opens a camera shop that becomes the salon for San Francisco's growing gay community, and organizes gays' purchasing power to build political alliances. He runs for office with lover Scott Smith as his campaign manager. Victory finally comes on the same day Dan White wins in the city's conservative district. The rest of the film sketches Milk's relationship with White and the 1978 fight against a statewide initiative to bar gays and their supporters from public school jobs. |

posted on 9 April 2009I was about to skip this movie but it turned to be even better than I had expected. I am not a fan of Sean Penn but he was fantastic in “Milk.” What I like the most about this movie is the way it shows and conveys important moral values and principles. The movie is powerful and well-scripted.
The film stated "What matters is the fight, more than the outcome!" and I can't agree more. Nowadays, we are really lack of movies that bring something and convey some meaning but “Milk” is an amazing exception.
The movie rises important issues of moral values and builds up a great and powerful message. The direction was second to none. I highly recommend you to watch it!
